AMSTETTEN - Westside City: An appeal to all senses (since 2006)

As a result of its expansion the existing retail warehouse centre in Amstetten was converted into an entertainment centre by Gastro Immobilien Börse. (employer: Burkhard Doblander / centre developer)

 

By incorporating the Cineplexx centre, a discotheque and international gastronomy, Gastro Immobilien Börse came up with a successful solution. The event-oriented shopping and entertainment centre Westside City in the operational area Amstetten West in which draw area live about 600.000 persons benefits from the direct accessibility via the motorway West (A1) resp. B121 (Weyrer A-Road) and scores due to its mix of commerce, cinemas, fitness, entertainment/games, gastronomy, discos and offices.

International flair

The concept of Westside City is the combination of international flair and regionality which reinterprets the character of a marketplace for a demanding audience. The customer should be guided through individually designed theme parks – which appeal to all senses – and be invited to stay (rest areas with sitting accommodation, gastronomy) so he can wander through sensually staged spheres of sounds (PA system), smells (drug stores, hair dresser, coffee houses), colours and light (light design) with landmarks such as of winding roads, squares, sweeping staircases and plastic elements.

Topical design of the components

Westside Boulevard

Design for the purpose of the Hollywood flair and the Walk of Fame where renowned personalities from the region are immortalized into bronze. The boulevard leads through cafés and drug stores, all the way to the communication centre: the Markusplatz

Markusplatz

The Markusplatz is the central market place for gastronomy and communication – along the lines of “to see and to be seen”. The advantage of Markusplatz is the generous and open design of the area which accommodates a vast range of gastronomy incl. pizzeria, Running Asia, Cafe Bar Lounge, confectionery, sports bets, games centre, the both stylish and folksy dancing club and the access to the Cineplexx cinema centre with 6 cinema halls. Being the central market place of the centre, Markusplatz is also highly suitable to host promotional POS and event-marketing shows.

Venice Beach – Little Italy

Via Markusplatz you can access “Venice Beach” – the area in front of the fitness centre EKAGym – and “Little Italy” (event area) – the area around Caffé Lavazza. The design of the sales rooms is supposed to transport a beach/holiday/summer feeling. The upper part of the fitness centre is visible through a glass front. A bright and open atmosphere creates a fresh and light feeling which encourages the customer to stay for a while.
